Eurovision nightGot myself some ice cream and will be making myself compfy on the sofa so I'm ready for the big, glittery, horrible music, camp, pointless politics, drama that is eurovision. It never disappoints me.

Sadly I will be alone for this one. Matt had to do a concert he didn't want to do, so I will be live tweeting (humonlazydiva) my impression of the whole shebang.

The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart.
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.

It's been a long time everyone, a very long time. I haven't really gotten that much of a chance to update so I guess now at 2 AM it's time.

I've been working on a lot of programming and advanced photoshop work. I'm learning the internal scripting engine of Photoshop and also have created a few test panels. I'll soon be releasing a free set of actions here that are unlike anything ever done before in Photoshop, using full automation and a complete user interface to interact with. It's pretty cool, and after the first set is released I'll be releasing loads of premium (AKA 99 cent) actions that run using the same engine.

It's actually very fun to work with and quite simple for the end user. You literally click a button in the UI, action runs, and more buttons allow you to modify specific parts of the action in a much more simplified manner than opening up the action itself and manipulating the individual layers. I've also automated the loading of actions in the UI so that a simple button click will allow you to move to a different action set.

The entire thing installs via an .msi file that'll move all the actions into the respective folders that they belong in (depending on your installation type) and also install the panel and scripts. It also allows for custom installations, and updates. Pretty nifty!

So yeah! That should all be coming out within the next couple of weeks. I can't wait!
