I decided that my initial edit could have been pushed so much further than where I stopped. I realized that there were still a lot of little errors I wanted to fix, and I also wanted to expand the dynamic range and contrast of the image.

This drive towards changing the image was born from a chat I had with someone at the time of taking the picture. A complete stranger walked up to me and asked me what I thought about the two lions: Did they scare me? I told him that instinctively, yes, lions would scare me off.

He then raised the point that maybe we shouldn't be scared of lions, but instead respect them for their power in the same way we respect our own. He said that perhaps instead of fearing the things that we do not completely understand, we should actually try to become those things.

The goal isn't just to become the lion, it's to become the entire jungle and to become aware of the greater capabilities we can gain from simple understanding and mutual feelings.

This image is the birth of that: A mutual feeling of incompleteness from the image and myself drove me towards editing it further and pushing it to a point in which it hadn't been before.

This is my redux. A complete re-edit of the original photo to see how dramatic I could actually make the image. I want to portray this place in a way that actually makes the viewer feel its power. I don't know if I've actually managed to achieve that, but hopefully I got close.
